Description

Isolate and cultivate fastidious microorganisms with clearly visible hemolytic reactions (staphylococci and streptococci), while simultaneously detecting and Gram-negative pathogens from urine samples using Thermo Scientific™ Oxoid™ Columbia Agar with Sheep Blood PLUS/MacConkey Agar without Salt Biplate.

The biplate format combines a selective and a general purpose medium on one plate reducing the need for further confirmation steps by allowing the laboratories to isolate pathogens directly without any subculture.

Produce more diagnostic details of pathogenic organisms while reducing storage capacity issue in the incubator with a bi-plate that combines Gram-positive and Gram-negative organism detection on a single plate, allowing the laboratories get the full clinical picture for the next diagnostic decision.

Columbia Blood Agar with Sheep Blood PLUS promotes rapid production of large colonies, clearly defined zones of hemolysis and good colonial differentiation while MacConkey Agar without Salt suppresses the swarming of Proteus species and is therefore recommended for urine examination in the investigation of suspected urinary tract infection (UTI).
