Cleanroom Gloves
Cleanroom gloves are intended for use in cleanrooms and controlled environments, including, but not limited to, microelectronic, semiconductor, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, laboratory, research, chemical, life sciences, and healthcare. Designed to prevent particulate contamination, cleanroom gloves are manufactured, washed, and packaged in a cleanroom environment and meet stringent industry standards and requirements.
Cleanroom gloves are intended for a single use and are constructed of nitrile, latex, neoprene, polychloroprene, vinyl, or polyisoprene material. They are assigned a class and ISO rating and can be sterile or non-sterile, depending on working conditions. Cleanroom gloves are available in pair-packed, hand-specific, or ambidextrous variations and range from 9 inches to 24 inches in length with 12 inches being the standard length. Sizes range from X-small through 2X-large and are sometimes displayed in numeric form (sizes 5 through 11).
The following criteria must be considered when selecting the appropriate cleanroom gloves:
- Particle count: Refers to the number of particle contaminants that come off the gloves
- Extractable count: Number of elements extracted from the gloves in an immersion test
- Clean class: Gloves are carefully laundered, dried, tested and packaged to ensure the particle count is compatible with the cleanroom environment where they will be used
