Description
- Chicken gizzard actin has been used as the immunogen
- Immunoblots demonstrate specificity directed towards all actins ranging from yeast, to flies, to mouse, to man
- Actins are: skeletal alpha-actin, cardiac alpha-actin, smooth muscle gamma actin, cytoplasmic beta-actin, cytoplasmic gamma actin as well as Dictyostelium discoideum and Physarum olycephalum actins
- Epitope for the antibody lies between residues 18 to 40, a highly conserved region of the molecule
- Can also be used for cells cultivated on slides, for frozen tissue sections and as a loading control for western blots
