E-Gel™ EX 1% Agarose Gels are self-contained, pre-cast agarose gels designed to provide fast, convenient, and easy electrophoresis. Each E-Gel™ agarose gel is ready for use with agarose, electrodes, and SYBR™ Gold DNA gel stain packaged inside an 11-well, easy-to-open, UV- and blue-light transparent cassette. SYBR™ Gold stain can be viewed with blue light, which minimizes DNA damage and allows real-time monitoring of DNA migration with the E-Gel™ Safe Imager Real-Time Transilluminator.
Ultra-sensitive detection of DNA
E-Gel™ EX gels were developed for ultimate sensitivity and demonstrate over 5-fold greater sensitivity than comparable gels containing ethidium bromide. This is due to the use of the ultra-sensitive SYBR™ Gold nucleic acid gel stain. The superior sensitivity allows you to use lower amounts of sample, saving time and money.
Quick check of RNA samples
E-Gel™ EX gels can also be used for fast analysis of RNA samples to check on their integrity before proceeding with downstream applications.
Easy access to the gel
The gel cassette is designed to open with a gel knife (included with this kit), so that the gel inside can be accessed readily for excision of specific bands or transferred to a membrane for Southern blot analysis.
Running and viewing apparatus
E-Gel™ EX gels require the E-Gel™ iBase™ Power System (included) for running and the E-Gel™ Safe Imager™ Real-Time Transilluminator (not included) for real-time viewing of sample migration.
