Description

Description

For reconstitution, add sterile, distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of 1 mg/mL. Gently shake to solubilize the protein completely. Do not vortex. Reconstituted products should be stored at -80 °. This antibody can also be cross referenced by the term BMS patent anti-Integrin alpha 5 beta 1.

The ITGA5 and ITGB1 genes encode the alpha-5 and beta-1 subunits of integrin receptors, respectively. These integrins are transmembrane receptors that mediate cell adhesion and signaling between the extracellular matrix (ECM) and the cell interior. ITGA5, located on chromosome 12q13, binds with ITGB1, located on chromosome 10p11, to form the alpha 5 beta 1 integrin heterodimer, which specifically interacts with fibronectin, facilitating cell adhesion, migration, proliferation, and survival. Alterations in the expression and functional activity of ITGA5 and ITGB1 have been implicated in various cancers, such as gliomas and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), where they play vital roles in tumor progression, metastasis, and the tumor immune microenvironment. Understanding the roles of these integrins can aid in the development of prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for cancer treatment.
