Cytiva MBS II Microbiological Filtration System Filter Units

Description

The Whatman™ MBS II Microbiological Filtration System was designed to provide complete control over the sample filtration process. A pre-assembled all-in-one filtration unit is attached to a vacuum manifold (sold separately). The sample is poured into the filter unit for sterile filtration. Then, the unit is detached and the membrane is just removed and transferred to an agar plate. A new sterile filtration unit is used for the next sample, with no sterilization of the system required.

The mixed cellulose ester membrane (ME) is hydrophillic and is ideal for aqueous solutions. The white filter features a black grid for easy quantitative evaluation of microorganism counts. After filtration, the membrane is removed from the filter unit and incubated on a nutrient medium so the individual colonies can be evaluated.
