Procollagen I N-Peptide Monoclonal Antibody for Western Blot, IHC (P)
Procollagen type I N-terminal propeptide (P1NP) is a specific marker of bone formation, reflecting the synthesis of type I collagen, which constitutes the major part of the bone matrix. P1NP is derived during the conversion of procollagen to collagen, produced by osteoblasts during bone formation. Its primary clinical application lies in the diagnosis and monitoring of metabolic bone diseases, particularly osteoporosis. In osteoporotic patients, P1NP levels can predict bone mineral density (BMD) responses to treatments like teriparatide and romosozumab. Low serum levels of P1NP are indicative of a high risk of BMD loss, providing a valuable tool for premenopausal women with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and other conditions affecting bone health.Specifications
