Osteocalcin belongs to the osteocalcin/matrix Gla-protein family and constitutes 1-2% of the total bone protein. It binds strongly to apatite and calcium. Gamma-carboxyglutamate residues are formed by vitamin K dependent carboxylation. These residues are essential for the binding of calcium. RP-43154 contains native bovine Osteocalcin protein. RP-43154 may be used as a positive control in many immunological assays. The RP-43154 protein molecular weight is ∽5.8 kDa. The extinction coefficient for a 1% solution of RP-43154 is 13.3.
